This guide on special needs accessibility for zoos across the United States. While we have already put together an overview on ideas for planning a trip to the zoo, we wanted to take one step further to help our community. For a family trip, there is plenty for all parties to take on and enjoy. We will DEFINITELY go back. The zoo is a wonderful place for families to go due to the wide walkways and large exhibits that are centerpieces of most. Other than those 3 things everything else was FANTASTIC. They really didn't move much because of that reason. 2nd, the tires on the tricycles needed to be inflated. My daughter,7, was just let down because they were inflated but she couldn't play on them. I do understand that there was a hole in them so they needed to be repaired. 1st, the bounce houses were inflated but unusable. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a few things. Most importantly, my son felt confident in what he was doing because the staff who helped him made him feel that way. My son,11, decided he wanted to go on the kayak for the first time ever! I was a nervous wreck but the kids who helped him in and out were awesome. He is the reason I did end up doing the zip line. He made me feel so comfortable! Didn't rush me or pressure me into just doing it. He talked me through the entire process and even held the line so that I could sit in the harness and see how it felt. The young man who was hooking me up was AMAZING. We all had a blast!! I was terrified to try the zip line. The big kiddos (my husband and mother in law) tried the tricycle races. The kiddos also played in the water area and on the rock wall. We did the Sky Trail, kayak, and Zip line. When you go, be sure to being extra clothes and shoes for everyone. There was a few things we couldn't do because my daughter was too small. Be sure to check weight and height requirements. We spent about 3 hours here and actually wasn't able to do everything. We hope you’ll bring your grandkids back for another experience – you sound like an adventurous grandmother and the Sky Trail is great fun as are all of our other adventures! This season we added the Epic Pass for those who want shorter lines and it’s been a hit, especially on our busiest days. We’ve also looked at how other large attractions handle lines and as you probably know, many offer a “fast pass” option. The weather is cool, the view is amazing and there’s no line! And if you just want to zip, come on a Friday evening when we’re doing night zip lining starting at 8p (check the web site for dates). Our best advice is to come on a Sunday – lines are always much shorter. The Sky Trail and zip line are popular attractions, especially on a Saturday. We are glad our staff was able to get you and your grandkids on the zip line, and that you all enjoyed it! We totally understand your frustration with standing in line and are always looking for ways to make the wait shorter for everyone. They were sore, hot and very frustrated and they're 15 & 13 years old. For the money I forked out, we only did the zip line and my Grandkids were done because of the long wait. They zip line was fun, it breaks to hard, they need a spring on it to cush the stop better. This policy needs to change, good grief I have a Zoo Friends membership but that doesn't give me the pleasure of jumping to the front of a line at certain areas while other have been waiting in line. ![]() I understand the EPIC passholders have a special pass but that pass shouldn't allow them to jump to the front of the line when others have been standing in the heat for so long. This continued for 1 hour 45 minutes with people complaining the teenagers running this course. That line was empty and we continue to wait, it wasn't moving, we learned they were pulling from a 3rd line for the EPIC pass holders it appears they get to jump to the front of the line whenever they get in line, WOW! People started lining up in the second line and they pulled from that line after we had been standing there for over 30 minutes. There was a second line with only a few people in it, a couple of them left and a couple stays and they were pulled in to get their harness's on. When we got in line we were actually standing in the line where the ropes were, not far from the front of the line. My Grandkids and I waiting for 1 hour 45 minutes to do the zip line.
